GARDNER - Roger A. LaChance Sr, 80, of 377 Elm Street, formerly of Winchendon, died peacefully Wednesday morning, October 11, 2017 in Gardner Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Gardner.

He was born in Wolfeboro, NH on September 13, 1937, son of the late Raymond and Irene (Wheeler) LaChance and lived in Winchendon for many years until moving to Gardner six years ago.

Roger grew up in Templeton and attended the former Templeton High School.  He proudly served in the United States Navy from 1955 to 1958 during the Korean War and served aboard the USS Macon.  Roger worked as a machinist at Simplex Time Recorder for most of his life.  He was a member of Eugene M. Connor Post #193 American Legion and enjoyed bowling, country music, fishing and vacationing at Old Orchard Beach, Maine.

His wife of 57 years Alice M. (LaLiberte) LaChance, died in 2014.  He leaves his children, Cherie Adams and her husband James of Gardner, Rick LaChance of Gardner, James LaChance of Gardner and Loriann LaChance of Florida; a sister, Pauline Chevereia and her husband Wayne of CT, a sister Jean of Florida, a sister Doris Morrissey and her husband Mike of Florida, a brother, Paul LaChance of Nevada and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  In addition to his wife, her was preceded in death by a son, Roger A. LaChance  Jr and his brothers Raymond LaChance, Charles LaChance and Donald LaChance and a sister, Virginia LaLiberte.

Military funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at 1 P.M. in Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon.  There are no calling hours.

Memorial donations may be made to Montachusett Veterans Outreach Center, Stallings Campus, 21 Murdock Avenue, Winchendon, MA 01475.
