ASHBURNHAM – Lorna L. (Therriault) Fields, 77, of 37 Jewell Hill Road, died peacefully Sunday evening, March 15, 2020 at home, with her family at her side.

She was born in Fitchburg on January 18, 1943, daughter of the late Raymond and Muriel (Smith) Therriault and grew up in Lunenburg.  Lorna was a 1961 graduate of Lunenburg High School.  She had been a resident of Ashburnham since 1972.

Lorna worked as a nurse’s aide for many years in the Pediatric Unit at the former Burbank Hospital. Her favorite things in life were spending time with her family, enjoying family holidays and spending time at the beach.  On a cruise with her dear husband John, she once swam with the dolphins and also swam with manatees on the Florida Keyes.  She was very devoted to those in need and would reach out to her homebound friends.  Through the years, she made thousands of palm crosses for residents at Highlands Nursing Home and for others.  Very community minded, she was a member of Ashburnham Council on Aging and the American Legion Auxiliary.  In her earlier years, Lorna was a girl scout leader and volunteer at Christmas for the Salvation Army.  Lorna was also an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots.

She leaves her husband of 56 years, John A. Fields; children, Dana A. Fields and his wife Patricia of Ashburnham, Sherri L. Mowrey and her husband Robin “Bunzy”, Tara Boston and her husband William of Winchendon and the late Rebekah Lynn Fields; her grandchildren, Dana J. Fields, Farah Fields, Orrin T. Fields, Riana S. Fields, Carissa Raposa, Nikolas Mowrey, Allisyn Mowrey, Brittany M Breau, Maddy Boston and the late Jocelyn Boston;  sisters, Suzie Taguchi and her husband Ken of Kingston, Ontario, Canada and Cynthia Goodwin and her late husband Danny of Leominster; 13 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Private funeral services will be held in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon.  Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Fitchburg.

A Celebration of Life with a time and date will be announced at a later time.

Memorial donations may be made to Alzheimers Association, 309 Waverley Oaks Rd, Waltham, MA. 02451.
