GARDNER – Layne M. Anderson, 25, of 6 Patten Street, Watertown and formerly of Gardner, died unexpectedly Thursday, April 7 th in Watertown.

Layne was born in Fitchburg on April 5, 1986, the daughter of Robert W. and Alice P. (Lunkenheimer) Anderson of Gardner and lived in Watertown for the last three years.

Layne was a 2004 graduate of Gardner High School, where she was Class Valedictorian, Yearbook Editor and a member of its National Honor Society. She later graduated in 2008 from Emerson College with a degree in Political Communication.

Upon graduation from college, Layne began working as a legislative aide to State Representative Robert Rice. She truly enjoyed being part of the political process at the State House, helping the constituents and making so many friends, especially from Rm. 39. While in college, Layne made friends of all ages: professors and students both. Layne was also a speech writer in her job capacity.

She did volunteer work at an inner-city school and was very active in political campaigning. Her friends are young artists, writers, set designers, costumers, production assistants, directors and fellow political junkies and non-profit support staff. Layne enjoyed reading, writing, all of the arts, comedy, music, trivia, pop culture and satire. She truly enjoyed living in the Boston area.

In addition to her parents, Layne is survived by a brother, Jay W. Anderson; her paternal grandmother, Clare (Larosee) Anderson of Warren OH; uncles and aunts, Raelene Price of Warren, OH, Eric, Glen and Thomas Anderson of Pelham, NH, Charles Anderson of Atlanta, GA, Dana Anderson of Atkinson, NH, John Lunkenheimer of Hannibal, NY, Lura Vereb and her husband Richard of Indiana, PA, Anne Johnston of Mornington, Vict., Australia and numerous beloved cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. C. Fay (Luke) Lunkenheimer of Red Creek, NY, her cousin David Vereb and her paternal grandfather R. Warren Anderson.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 12 th at 11 A.M. in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon. The Rev. Elea Kemler will officiate.

Calling hours in the funeral home are Monday, April 11 th from 4 to 8 P.M.
