Elsie M. Ayer

TEMPLETON – Elsie M. (Richardson) Ayer, 90, of Templeton died peacefully, with her family at her side, Monday, July 29, 2019.  Elsie was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Harold O. Ayer, who died in 2005 and her son, Timothy H. Ayer, who died in 1987, as well as her eleven siblings, of which she was the youngest.  She leaves her son, Theodore G. Ayer and two granddaughters, Tania L. Chaisson and her husband Aaron and Kelly A. Borsatto and her husband Gilmar.  She also leaves four great granddaughters, Julia, Caroline, Cecilia and Isadora and many nieces and nephews.

Elsie was the daughter of the late Mabel (Stone) Richardson and the late George Richardson.  She was born on November 12, 1928 in South Ashburnham and was raised on the family farm on Richardson Road.  She graduated from Fitchburg High School.

Elsie worked as a secretary at Bohman Industrial Traffic and at New England Furniture.  She worked for twenty years as a cook at Oakmont Regional High School.  She was a member of Peoples Congregational Church of Ashburnham and the Ladies Auxiliary, Ashburnham American Legion, Thomas P. Sweeney Post #142.  She loved playing cards, crocheting and knitting, and doing crossword puzzles.  She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She will be greatly missed.

A special thank you to the staff at Heywood Hospital, where she received excellent care.

Graveside services will be held Friday, August 2, 2019 at 11 A.M. in New Cemetery, Old Nims Road, Ashburnham.

A reception for family and friends will follow at the Polish American Citizens Club, 171 Kendall Pond W, Gardner.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Ashburnham Legion Ladies Auxiliary or to the charity of one’s choice.
