Edward D. Wagner

GARDNER – Edward D. Wagner, 78, of 32 Vernon Street, died peacefully Monday afternoon, July 12, 2021 in Wachusett Manor Nursing Home.

He was born in Gardner on April 27, 1943, son of the late Zygmond E. and Nellie (Petrovich) Wagner and was a lifelong resident of Gardner.  Ed was a graduate of Gardner High School and Mount Wachusett Community College with a degree in science.

Ed worked for many years as a carpenter’s helper for his father.  For many years, Ed played the drums in Ziggy Wagner’s Orchestra, which played at weddings and other events.  He was a long time member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church and a current member of Annunciation Parish.

During the Vietnam War, Ed proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army.  He loved animals.

He leaves a twin brother, John D. Wagner of Gardner and several close friends.

Funeral services will be private.  Burial will take place in St. John Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to Gardner Animal Shelter or ASPCA.
