Claire T. LaDeau

WINCHENDON – Claire T. (Cote) LaDeau, 89, a former long time resident of Winchendon, died peacefully Friday morning, June 24th in River Terrace Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Lancaster with her family at her side.

She was born in Gardner on June 23, 1927, daughter of the late Alfred and Albina (Vasseur) Cote and was a resident of Winchendon for most of her life.

Claire had worked as a cafeteria worker in Winchendon elementary schools.   She had also worked in the Men’s Department at the former Rich’s Department Store and as a furniture decorator at Temple Stuart Furniture Company in Baldwinville.  She had been an active volunteer at the Winchendon Council on Aging.  In earlier years, she was a cub scout den mother.  Her hobbies were gardening, cooking, sewing, and doing arts and crafts.  She especially treasured spending time with her family.

Her husband, Robert V. LaDeau Sr., died in 1985.  She leaves a daughter, Carol I. Leblanc and her husband Mark of Fitchburg; two grandchildren Brandy Wolski and her husband Kevin and Samantha Sherwin and her husband Adam and two great grandchildren, Allyson Wolski and Dean Wolski, all of Winchendon.  Her grandchildren and great grandchildren fondly called her “Memere Gus”.  In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a son, Robert V. “Bobby” LaDeau Jr. and a sister Irene Cote.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 29th at 10 A.M. in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon.  Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.

Calling hours in the funeral home are Tuesday, June 28th from 5 to 7 P.M.

Memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 480 Pleasant Street, Watertown, MA 02472.

The family would like to extend its thanks to Beacon Hospice and to the staff at River Terrace Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center.
