Campbell Godfrey

GARDNER - Campbell "Cam" Godfrey, 92, died peacefully Monday morning, August 12, 2019 in Linda Manor Extended Care Facility, Leeds, with his loving wife at his side.

He was born in Springfield, MA on February 27, 1927, son of the late Edgar and Dorothy (Campbell) Godfrey and lived in Gardner for many years.  Cam was a graduate of Gardner High School and attended Burdett College and the General Motors Institute.

Following high school, Cam entered the United States Navy and proudly served his country during World War II.  He earned the World War II Victory Medal and American Area Medal.

Cam worked for 42 years as a sales representative for Nichols and Stone and Colonial Furniture.  He was the 1978 Salesman of the Year of New England and was Salesman of the Year for Nichols and Stone many times.  Cam was President and CEO of C&J Godfrey, LLC until his retirement.

Cam served as Trustee of First Congregational Church of Gardner for many years.  In recent years, he was a member of First Congregational Church in Westminster and served on various church committees.  He was an avid golfer and enjoyed skiing, bicycling, family vacations and taking care of his lovely home.  Cam was a member of Monomonoc Sporting Club and his family cherishes memories of countless happy occasions on the lake.

He leaves his wife of 70 years, Emily L. “Pat” (Hartshorn) Godfrey; three children, James Godfrey of Fitchburg, Pamela Clark and her husband Gerald of Leeds, MA and Cynthia Healy and her husband David of Holyoke; a granddaughter, Allison Vamos; two great grandsons as well as nieces and nephews.  Two brothers, Lincoln Godfrey and George Godfrey, preceded him in death.

A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at 2 P.M. in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon.  A calling hour from 1 to 2 P.M. Tuesday will precede the service.

Burial will be in Crystal Lake Cemetery at a later date.
