Ambrose W. Marean Jr.

August 28, 1929 — June 23, 2020

GARDNER – Ambrose W. Marean Jr, 90, of Gardner, died peacefully Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at the home of his daughter Jude Burton in Remsen, N.Y.

He was born in Hubbardston on August 28, 1929, son of the late Ambrose W. and Florence M. (Valley) Marean, and was a graduate of Worcester Trade School.

A tool and die maker by trade, Ambrose and his late wife Lenore owned and operated Gardner Tool and Stamping Co in South Gardner for 48 years.  Ambrose managed the operations and Lenore managed the office.  Ambrose was a long time member and former treasurer of First Lutheran Church and later became a member of Faith Lutheran Church.  A trustee of Levi Heywood Memorial Library, Ambrose played an integral part in building the new library, and with Lenore gave a donation for the children's room.  An avid outdoorsman, Ambrose enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, wildlife photography, and sailing on Queen Lake.

His wife of 61 years, Lenore E. (Anderson) Marean, died in 2011.  He leaves three children, Paul A. Marean and his wife Linda of Belchertown, Judith M. Burton DVM and her husband Stephen C. Burton DVM of Remsen, NY, and Jane L. Marean of Manitowoc, Wisconsin; six grandchildren, Abigail Marean, Nathan Marean, Hannah Lu and her husband Charlie, Luke Burton and his wife Claire, Seth Burton, and Kayla Drumm and her husband Josh; five great grandchildren, Olivia, Natalie, Abigail, Ellianna, and London as well as several nieces and nephews.  A sister, Velma Rivers, and a brother, Curtis Marean, preceded him in death.

Graveside services will be held Friday, July 9, 2021 at 10 A.M. in Green Bower Cemetery, Gardner
