Adele Douckas

May 5, 1923 — February 11, 2016

GARDNER – Adele (Shetrowski) Douckas, 92, of 81 Limerick Street, died peacefully Thursday morning, February 11th in Gardner Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.

A lifelong resident of Gardner, she was born on May 5, 1923, daughter of the late Koustanty and Margaret (Miller) Shetrowski and graduated from Gardner High School.

Adele had worked at Florence Stove, Gem Crib Co and Simplex Time Recorder, where she assembled clocks until her retirement.  She was a member of Lithuanian Outing Association, and she attended many events at the Gardner Senior Center.  She loved the outdoors and particularly enjoyed gardening.

She leaves two sons, Paul Douckas and his wife Jean of Gardner and Peter Douckas and his wife Patricia of Gardner; two grandsons, Paul Douckas Jr and Brian Lavenski; two step grandchildren Kristen Aho of Woodbridge, VA and Robert Aho of Gardner; a brother Peter Shetrowski of Orange; two sisters, Susie Goguen of Fitchburg and Annie Leblanc of Gardner as well as several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, February 17th at 11 A.M. in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon.   There are no calling hours.

Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery in the spring.
