Born on Easter Sunday, 1928, Theresa has gone to the loving arms of her deceased husband, Aldo “Red” DiVirgilio. Red & Theresa built their home in Otter River, next door to Red’s parents. There they raised their four children, Susan, Robert, Maria, and Linda.
Theresa left her employment as a telephone operator with “Ma Bell” upon the birth of her youngest. A member of St. Martin’s Church, she served as secretary for the Women’s Group.
An avid bowler, Theresa bowled with the Wednesday morning Ladies’ league at the Gardner Ten Pins, then in later years joined the Friday afternoon candlepin league at the Bowl-A-Way. Along with her husband, they spent many a good time with the Otter River crew at the Otter River Sportsman’s Club. They volunteered with the Telephone Pioneers and performed many good works. Theresa volunteered at Heywood Hospital for many years. Red and Theresa traveled to their timeshares; to Ireland to march in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade; Australia, New Zealand, Tahiti; Hawaii; and drove across America to various destinations.
Theresa is the sole survivor of her Chojnowski family: Frank, Edward Sr., Mary, Jennie, Leo, Theodore and Sally. She was the daughter of Joseph and Caroline (Trulho), immigrants who settled in the “Polish Patch” of Gardner. Theresa leaves her aforementioned children, five grandchildren, eight great grands and two great great grands, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Special thanks to the wonderful staff at Summit Elder Care, and especially Courtney and Jessica. Thank you for your care and concern.
