Taimi E. (Malce) Newman

WINCHENDON - Taimi E. (Malce) Newman, 90, of 547 Central Street, Winchendon, formerly of Ashby, died Friday evening, August 18th in Heywood Hospital, Gardner after a short illness. She was born in Fitchburg on May 11,1916, the daughter of Emil and Elina (Wirtanen) Malce, and was a resident of Ashby for most of her life. For the last three years, she had resided in Winchendon. Taimi worked as a nurses aide for 25 years at Hillcrest Nursing Home, Fitchburg until her retirement in 1985. She was a member of the Senior Citizens of Ashby and the Golden Agers of Ashby. She attended the First Baptist Church in Gardner. She was a graduate of Ashby High School. Her husband of 28 years, Emile C. Newman, died in 1964. She leaves a son, Ronald E. Newman and his wife, Sally W. Newman, of Ashburnham; three grandchildren, David A. Newman of Framingham, Daniel E. Newman of Holden and Tina Lafield of Westminster; four great grandchildren, as well as nieces and nephews. A son, Robert E. Newman, who died in 1996; a brother, Eero Malce and a sister, Marja Lepisto, all predeceased her.. Funeral services will be held at 3 P.M. Tuesday, August 22nd in the Snow-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon. The Rev. Dr. R. Gary Heikkila will officiate. Calling hours in the funeral home will be from 2 to 3 P.M., Tuesday, August 22nd, prior to the funeral. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Ashby at a later date.
