Ryan M. Burns

Ryan Michael Burns passed away on May 9th, 2026 in Gardner, MA. Born May 10, 1977, in Stoughton, he was the son of Lee Ann (Martin) Bristow and the late Michael P. Burns. He made life a thrilling ride with his adventurous spirit and was known for his witty sense of humor.

Ryan, fondly known by many as "Burnsy", had a wide variety of hobbies and collections. Whether fishing, hunting, tinkering with cars, camping, playing with his Dobermans, snowmobiling, motorcycles, or collecting knives, he embraced each passion wholeheartedly. He enjoyed all New England sports, especially the Bruins. His love for the outdoors was evident throughout his life, and he cherished sharing special moments with his children, Quinn and Reese, during their many adventures.

Ryan leaves behind his children, Quinn D. and Reese T. Burns; his loving mother, Lee Ann Bristow; brother Colin M. Burns, and wife, Leslie; younger sister, Katelyn Bristow; stepmother, Michelle Burns; stepbrother, Matthew Despres, and wife, Lisa; Quinn and Reese's mother, Melissa Ruckdeschel. Ryan also leaves behind many cousins, nieces, nephews, and chosen family. He also cared deeply for his significant other, Sarah McKeon.

He was preceded in death by his father, Michael P. Burns; his stepfather, Leon E. Bristow; maternal grandparents, E. Charles Martin; and Joyce C. Marshall; paternal grandparents, James H. Sr and Beatrice "Bea" Burns; and uncle, James H. Burns Jr.

Ryan graduated from Gardner High School with the Class of 1995 and was in Wastewater Management for the City of Fitchburg and Hudson, and Town of Orange. As with everything he did, he took great pride in his work.
