LEOMINSTER – Rosemarie J. (Blair) McGrath, 87, passed peacefully on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at Clinton Health-Alliance Hospital after a brief illness.
She was born in Swanzey, New Hampshire on July 27, 1934, the daughter of Walter E. and Lillian P. (Lamoureux) Blair.
Her husband, Norman J. McGrath died in 1986. She leaves her sons, Peter N. & his wife, Karen of Ashburnham, Brian J. of Leominster, Jeffrey J. and his wife, Pauline of Saco, ME, Armand J. of Leominster, Raymond J. of Leominster, James J. and his wife, Michelle of Fitchburg, Shawn M. and his wife, Cindy of Athol, and Norman G. of Orange; her daughter, Jennifer R. McNeaney and her husband, Timothy of East Brookfield; her brothers, Thomas and Peter Blair; her sister, Anita Delisle; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandson; many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by two sons, Joseph J. McGrath and Andrew J. McGrath, and her siblings Mildred DeBlois, Maryann Corliss, Katherine Quinn, Loretta Connors, & Donald Blair.
Rose was a woman of faith who enjoyed attending Mass and the many prayer groups at all the local churches. She went to church daily and twice on weekends. If she wasn’t in church she was watching it on TV.
She was a member of St. Cecilia Church and formerly had been a CCD Teacher, Eucharistic Minister, choir member, and a member of the Ladies of St. Anne. She was also a member of Catholic Financial Life, the former L’Union Saint Jean Baptiste. She worked at St. Leo’s Rectory for over 35 years as a housekeeper until her retirement in 2019. She also was a cafeteria worker for St. Leo’s School many years ago.
Rose loved to go out to dinner with her family and friends, and loved to play the penny slots at Foxwoods. Her greatest joy was spending time and laughing with her family at cookouts.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Friday, October 1, 2021 at 10:30 AM at St. Cecilia’s Church, 170 Mechanic Street, Leominster followed by a committal service at St. Cecilia Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held at the Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon on Thursday, September 30, 2021 from 6 to 8 P.M.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Cecilia Church, 170 Mechanic Street, Leominster MA 01453 or to St. Vincent de Paul Church, PO Box 14, Baldwinville MA 01436.
