Winchendon

We celebrate the life of Roger Nadim Tobia, born in Gardner, MA, on June 14, 1936, who passed away peacefully on February 7, 2026. Roger, a longtime resident of Winchendon, Massachusetts, touched the lives of many with his unique blend of warmth, wit, and wisdom. He was a pillar of his community, serving as a Selectman in the early 90s and a Director at the Colonial Co-op Bank. A graduate of Babson College in Wellesley, he embraced his entrepreneurial spirit, managing his father's store, The South Gardner Supermarket, and co-owning Playway Lanes in Winchendon and the Yankee Lanes in Keene, N.H.

Roger, known for his robust love for life, was a man of many interests. An avid reader, his world was always colored by the latest book he was reading. He had a fondness for taking long, peaceful walks and particularly enjoyed walking Lana's dog during his visits. His heart was always full when he was around friends, enjoying the simple pleasure of their company and participating in a variety of activities. He was a vibrant presence at his grandchildren's sporting events and found joy in playing cards. Roger and his late wife Linda made lasting memories volunteering at Road Races on Mount Washington, participating in the Relay for Life, and camping in Vermont. He also served on the Board for the Friends of the Veterans' Cemetery at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Winchendon

Roger was a devoted son, caring for his parents, Nadim and Sadie Tobia, in their later years. He was a loving brother to Carole Mumby and Richard Tobia, who survives him with his wife, Mary. Roger also leaves behind a legacy through his step-children, Jeffrey Gould, and Lana Crosby with her husband Gregg, and his cherished grandchildren, Carson, Erin Crosby, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Tobia, and his brother, George Tobia.
