Robert E. Fitzgerald was born on September 27, 1939, in Watertown, MA, USA, and passed away on July 16, 2024. He resided in Gardner, Massachusetts. He was a man of character, strength, and resolve, who served his country with honor and distinction, and will be fondly remembered by his loved ones.

Robert was a man of many talents. He graduated from Sutton Memorial High School in Sutton, MA, and soon after enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he served for four years and received an honorable discharge as a Corporal. Upon returning to civilian life, Robert held various jobs but most notably worked as a bus driver, a job he performed with dedication and commitment that drew respect and admiration from those who knew him. 

Robert is survived by his son, Joseph Larose, and his sisters, Shirley Hanson, Elaine Padeni. He is preceded in death by his father, Joseph Fitzgerald, Sr., his mother, Helen Fitzgerald, his brother, Joseph Jr, his other brother, David Fitzgerald, and his sister, Barbara Gagliardi. Robert's memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Funeral services will be held Monday, July 22, 2024 at 1:00 pm in the Stone Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon, MA 01475. Burial will follow at 2:00 pm, in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon, MA
