Raymond P. Theriault

March 19, 1932 — February 14, 2019

PHILLIPSTON – Raymond P. Theriault, 86, of 320 Queen Lake Road, died unexpectedly Thursday, February 14, 2019 in Heywood Hospital, Gardner.

He was born in Gardner on March 19, 1932, son of the late Camille and Germaine (Laroche) Theriault and was a 1950 graduate of Gardner High School, where he was a member of its football team.

Ray proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force during the Korean War.  A resident of Phillipston since 1978, he owned and operated the former Queen Lake Spa.  He also worked as a meat cutter, union carpenter and as a maintenance man in the Gardner public schools.  After retirement, he worked part time as a meat cutter at the Ashburnham Market.  He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Otter River Sportsmens Club.  Ray was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots and enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching western movies.

His wife, Evelyn (Arsenault) Theriault, died in 2016.  He leaves five children, Phillip R. Theriault and his wife Iva of Templeton, Linda M. LeBlanc of Gardner, Denise G. Kendall and her husband James of Gardner, David J. Theriault of Templeton and Richard P. Theriault of Mechanic Falls, ME; a sister Rita Thibeault of Gardner; a stepdaughter Lori Bjorson of Athol; seven grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.  In addition to his wife, Ray was predeceased by two brothers, Lou Theriault and Donald Theriault and a stepdaughter, Tammy Bjorson.

Military funeral services will be held Friday, February 22, 2019 at 10 A.M. in Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon.

There are no calling hours.
