Gardner

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Quimby Q. Whitney, beloved father, brother, and grandfather, who departed this life on October 2, 2025.

Born in Worthington, Massachusetts, on July 3, 1928, to the late Everett and Jennie Whitney, Quimby spent his formative years in Phillipston before settling in Gardner.

He was the widower of the late Louise Whitney. Quimby had a long and distinguished career as a Foreman at Phillipston DPW before his retirement. He owned the Quim-Lou riding stables for many years and was a well-known figure in the local community. He was also an avid camper, frequently exploring the great outdoors in his trusted motorhome. Quimby was a member of several organizations, the Phillipston Lions Club, where he was a charter member, and the Good Sam Club. He was a pillar of the community and will be remembered for his unwavering commitment to service.

Quimby is survived by his sons Quimby Jr., Gerald, Jeffrey, daughter Beverly, and sons Glenn and Frank Whitney. Also sibling Marilyn Bell. He was preceded in death by his sons Bruce and Clifford Whitney, daughter Lois Kwaitkowski, and siblings Thelma Trombley, Shirley (Everett) Whitney, Delia Salisbury, Wayne Whitney, Ray Whitney, Myrtle Zablonski, and Hazel Haggett.

He was the proud grandfather of 22 grandchildren, and many great grandchildren.

We invite you to leave your memories and upload photos of Quimby below. May these shared reflections bring comfort in the days ahead and keep his memory alive.
