Nancy J. (Miettinen) Pokki

TEMPLETON - Nancy J. (Miettinen) Pokki, 58, of 86 Turner Lane, East Templeton died Thursday, November 10th at her residence after an illness. She was born in Gardner on June 15,1947, the daughter of William and Joan (D'Etcheverry) Miettinen and had lived in Templeton for most of her life. Nancy was an operating room nurse for over 30 years, working at Franklin Medical Center, Heywood Hospital, Burbank Hospital and most recently at the Lahey Clinic. A 1965 graduate of Narragansett Regional High School and Burbank Hospital School of Nursing, she had also worked for two years at NCCI, Gardner in its Infectious Disease Unit. She was a communicant of Holy Cross Church, East Templeton and was a member of Templeton Fish and Game Club. She loved traveling with her husband and spending time with her family at home. She was especially fond of her grandchildren. She leaves her husband of 18 years, Henry Pokki; three daughters, Jessica M. Filleul of East Templeton, Heather L. Root of East Templeton and Janella T. Stokinger of South Boston; two sisters, Linda J. Smith of Holyoke and Marti J. DuGuay of Southbridge; three grandchildren, Kelsea Filleul, Noah Filleul and Olivia Filleul, as well as eleven nieces and nephews. A sister, Elinor J. Putnam and a brother, Laurie W. Miettinen, predeceased her. The funeral will be held Monday, November 14th from the Snow-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 A.M. in Holy Cross Church, Lake Avenue, East Templeton. Calling hours in the funeral home will be from 6-8 P.M. Sunday, November 13th. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Templeton at a later date.
