TEMPLETON – M. Jane Eaton, 92, formerly of 50 Winchendon Road, Baldwinville, died peacefully Monday evening, February 17, 2020 in Alliance Health at Baldwinville, with her family at her side.
She was born in Washington, PA on August 12, 1927, daughter of the late Albert J. and Margaret J. (Gilmore) Strott and had been a resident of Baldwinville for 65 years. Jane was a 1945 graduate of the former Templeton High School and was a graduate of Fisher College with a Bachelor of Science Degree.
Jane worked many years ago as a secretary for the late Dr. Raymond Levesque DDS and then worked for 29 years at the former Baldwinville Cooperative Bank, which became Colonial Cooperative Bank in Baldwinville. At the time of her retirement, she was its branch manager. Jane also served as a member of the board of directors at the bank.
Active in town and in her church, Jane served on the Templeton Finance Committee and was Town Treasurer from 1976 to 1988. She was a member and former church secretary of Memorial Congregational Church and a member of its Ames Moore Guild. While her children were growing up, Jane was a former Girl Scout leader.
Her husband, Winthrop Eaton, died in 1962. She leaves two daughters, Carolee Eaton of Hubbardston and Candace Clark and her husband Douglas of East Sandwich; three grandchildren, Graham Eaton, Kate Clark and Cory Eaton and several great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Jane was preceded in death by two sons, David Eaton and James Eaton and her brother, Albert J. “Jack” Strott.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, February 26, 2020 at 12 Noon in Greenlawn Cemetery, Baldwinville. The Rev. Richard Jones will officiate.
