Mildred Viola Peterson, a loving beacon of resilience and loyalty, stepped into eternity on July 16, 2024, just shy of her 97th birthday. Born in Gardner, MA, on July 30, 1927, to Gottfried and Helen Anderson, Mildred was the epitome of a life well-lived. Her life was a testament to the quote, "The greatest gift you can give someone is your time, because when you give your time, you are giving a portion of your life that you will never get back." Mildred gifted her time generously to everyone she met, making each person feel valued and loved.
Mildred's life was characterized by unwavering dedication to her family, friends, and work. She thrived in her role as a factory worker in a furniture manufacturing company, where her strength and resilience were a source of inspiration for her colleagues. Her supportive nature extended beyond the boundaries of her workplace and permeated every aspect of her life. Known for her love of social activities, Mildred's presence was the heartbeat of every gathering, radiating warmth and vitality that brought people together. In the words of Maya Angelou, "People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." And Mildred had a unique knack for making people feel cherished and special.
Mildred leaves behind her beloved husband Herbert Peterson, her devoted daughter Susan Jones and partner Leonard Doane, her sons Ron Peterson and his wife Heather (Hines) Peterson, and Bruce Peterson and his wife Lisa (Wiley) Peterson. She was a doting grandmother to eight grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren, each of whom she adored. Preceded in death by her parents, Gottfried and Helen Anderson, Mildred’s legacy of love, loyalty, and resilience will continue to live on through her family and the countless lives she touched.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 24th @ 11am in the Stone Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central St., Winchendon, MA 01475. A calling hour will be held from 10:00am-11:00am prior to the funeral. Burial will follow in Wildwood Cemetery, Gardner
