Michael was born in Fitchburg on September 5, 1949, to Lydia (Leger) Theriault and Elmer Theriault. He graduated from Fitchburg High School in 1968. He joined the Fitchburg Fire Department on February 20, 1978, until his retirement on July 9, 2012.
Mike enjoyed summers with his daughters in York Beach, Maine, and exploring New England on one of his Harleys with his good friends Dave Perry and Wayne Monteverde.
He cherished cheering on his grandson in every activity he participated in. He made it to every practice and game and was proud to see his first basket and home run.
Known as "the dog guy" in his neighborhood, Mike enjoyed watching his dog play with his favorite neighbor. He donated his time and money to several local dog rescues and no-kill shelters and helped recover missing pets.
Michael leaves behind his daughters Sarah Theriault of Londonderry, VT, and Katie Theriault, and her fiance Eric Paelian of Winchendon, MA. His grandson Shawn Paelian of Winchendon, Ma. His former wife and friend JoAnne Theriault of Keene, NH. And his beloved dog Nancy Drew.
