Marion R. Boutelle, 89, of Holden, fought the gradual challenges of dementia with grace and dignity while holding onto her spirit until the very end. She passed away peacefully on Tuesday August 25, 2026 at the Jewish Community Healthcare Center.
Marion was born in Winchendon, MA on July 7, 1937, daughter of the late Freddie and Josephine (Mello) McAllister. She graduated from Murdock High School. After school she married the love of her life, Barry Boutelle. In 1958 they moved to Holden to raise their three children. While staying at home with the children she developed incredible baking skills which led to a job with Erickson Catering. Later in life, she worked for the USPS as a mail carrier, Wachusett Regional High School as a cafeteria lead, Holden Hospital as a cook and Physical Therapy Associates as an assistant. At each job she brought an impeccable work ethic and easily developed life-long friendships.
Marion was not someone to sit idle. She loved camping trips with the family, playing cards, and visiting family every Sunday in Winchendon. She was an avid walker and bowler. She loved to bake desserts for all occasions. Upon her retirement, she loved traveling and enjoyed cross-country trips with her husband, sister and brother-in-law. Marion loved her family vacations at White Horse Beach in as well as trips to Brant Lake, NY.
Family was everything to Marion. She spent every moment instilling the importance of kindness, love and respect towards others. She never missed sending a birthday or holiday card to the ones she loved. She loved watching her boys play sports, especially as a hockey mom. As her family grew she became the team grandmother. She could be seen at every school and sporting event with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Marion is predeceased by her loving husband of 63 years, Barry “Dear” Boutelle; sister Louise Nicholson (Nick), sister Doris Lafreniere (Tony), sister Nancy Hemlin (Pete), brother Ricky McAllister, sister-in-law Marcia Boutelle and brother-in-law Wesley Boutelle. She leaves her three children, Debra Wylie (Eric), Barry Boutelle Jr., Robert Boutelle (Tracy); grandchildren, Dan Nordberg, Missy Rizkalla (Steve), Benjamin Boutelle (Sarah) and Chloe Boutelle; great-grandchildren Bayla, Brennen and Griffin Foley, Cayden Nordberg, Lena and Olivia Boutelle; brother Freddie McAllister (Jeannie), sister-in-laws Michelle McAllister and Dolly Boutelle, previous son-in-law John Nordberg as well as many nieces and nephews.
