Lucille R. Corkum

Winchendon, MA
Lucille R. Corkum, a woman of strength, courage, and unwavering love, passed away on May 29, 2024. Born in Hudson, New Hampshire on July 25, 1940, Lucille was a beacon of resilience and a testament to the enduring spirit of the human heart. As Maya Angelou once said, “I can be changed by what happens to me. But I refuse to be reduced by it.” This quote perfectly encapsulates the essence of Lucille's life, as she was a woman who faced life's challenges head-on, always emerging stronger and more resolute.
Lucille's early years in Hudson, NH, laid the foundation for her robust work ethic and fierce independence. She moved to Winchendon, Massachusetts, where she made a fulfilling life. She spent 25 dedicated years as an assembler at Ray Plastics, leaving an indelible mark in the toy-making industry. Her contributions were not just limited to her professional life; Lucille was an active member of the rod and gun club since 1973, where she forged lifelong friendships and shared her passion for fishing. Lucille loved the sun on her face and the sand between her toes, her favorite getaway being Hampton beach. She also enjoyed the vibrant energy of Atlantic City, NJ, always ready for a new adventure.
Lucille was preceded in death by her loving husband, Lawrence Corkum, her parents, Edwin Rowell and Winnibel Desmond, and her brothers, Louis Sr., Earl Rowell, and Milton Rowell. She is survived by her beloved daughter, Donna Guthrie and husband Mike Guthrie who was a source of constant love and support in her life. She leaves behind her significant other Robert Vallencourt, special nephew Bruce Rowell and her friends Sue Martin and Pam Vallencourt. A special Thank you to Sue for cooking meals and taking care of Lucille.
