Lucien W. Becotte

Lucien W. Becotte passed away unexpectedly at his home on September 3, 2026, at the age of 92.

Born in Sanford, Maine, on September 2, 1934, Lucien was the son of Jeffrey and Annette Becotte. He later moved to Leominster, where Lucien met the love of his life, Claire. They were married on June 27, 1959, and shared 61 wonderful years together. In 2008, they relocated to Winchendon, where they were grateful to spend the majority of their retirement years together.

Lucien was a hard worker throughout his life. From his earliest days working on the family farm, through his proud service in the United States Army, and throughout his years as an upholsterer, he was a man who found purpose in hard work and pride in caring for those he loved. He worked for various companies over the years before retiring in 1993.

While Lucien was a man of many interests, his greatest joy was always his family. Lucien was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. He treasured the years he spent making memories with his family. One of his favorite pastimes was tent camping with Claire and their children when they were young. As the years went by, the family graduated to a small camper and eventually to a park model trailer, where Lucien and Claire enjoyed many happy days during their retirement.

Lucien also had a lifelong passion for hunting. He especially looked forward to his annual hunting trips to Randy’s camp in Maine with his son Alan. After moving to Winchendon, he was incredibly thankful for the opportunity to hunt on his own property—something that brought him great happiness and a deep sense of gratitude. He was also a proud lifetime member of the Leominster Sportsmen Club.

Lucien’s family will remember him for his strong work ethic, quiet strength, generous heart, love of the outdoors, and, most of all, the love he gave to those around him. His presence was a source of comfort and security to his family, and the memories he created with them will be treasured forever.

He leaves behind his children, Linda Testa and her husband Artie, Paul Becotte and his wife Patricia, Leo Becotte and his wife Rhonda, and Alan Becotte and his wife Cheryl; his grandchildren, Rachel Zalatores and her husband Jim, Aaron Testa and his wife Megan, Samantha Becotte, Matthew Becotte and his wife Gianelle, Quinn Becotte and his wife Alexis, Emma Becotte, Michael Becotte, Katelyn Prentiss and her husband Maxwell, Adam Becotte and his wife Melissa, Thomas Becotte, and Nicole Becotte; and his great-grandchildren, AJ, Maddy, Eliana, Luca, Mailyn, and Avery.

He is also survived by his younger brothers, Ronald and Donald Becotte, who always looked up to their “big brother”, and his twin sister Lucie Cournoyer.

Lucien was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Claire L. Becotte; his parents, Jeffrey and Annette Becotte; his sister, Doris Swan; his brother, Leo Becotte; his best friend, “Uncle” Frannie Tatro; and his brother-in-law, Gene Duchesneau, who played a very special role in Lucien’s life as the person who introduced him to Claire.

Lucien’s family takes comfort in knowing that his long-awaited reunion with Claire has finally come. After a lifetime of loving, working, camping, hunting, and building a family together, they are together once again.

His earthly journey is complete, but the love he shared with Claire and the family they built together will live on forever.

A Funeral Mass in honor of Lucien will be held at the St. Vincent de Paul Church, 18 Pleasant Street, Baldwinville, MA, on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at 11:00 am. Interment will be private at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery at a later date.
