It is with solemn respect that we mark the passing of John Wilbur White, Jr. born January 31, 1939, in Gardner, Massachusetts, and departing from us on February 20, 2024. John White, a man of many passions, he was a beacon of diligence and dedication in both his personal and professional lives.
He attended Cushing Academy, then Gardner High School, before moving to Boston in his junior year of high school, graduated from Roslindale High School and the Bentley School of Accounting with a certificate in Accounting.
He worked for Lilly Industries in Templeton as a comptroller. He worked for Lilly Industries for 21 years until 1995. He later sold real estate for Innovation and then drove a school bus for Heritage Bus lines in Templeton for 12 years, retiring at the age of 70.
His dedication to his work was mirrored in his commitment to the community. He was an active member of the Gardner Museum, Gardner Music Boosters, Gardner Youth Ice Hockey, Friends of the Gardner Public Libary, Tower Hill Botanical Garden in Boylston, and the Boy Scout Troop 4. His passion for Newfoundland dogs led him to the Newfoundland Club of New England, where he garnered a 50-year pin and bred these magnificent dogs alongside his beloved wife, Marcia.
John leaves his cherished wife, Marcia White, their sons Christopher (Kate) and John (Joy) III: his adored grandchildren, Toma, George, Arianna, Braeden, and Cailynn, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ruth White.
