John T. (Tom) VanVaerenewyck

John T. (Tom) VanVaerenewyck, 75, died Sunday, March 1, 2026, at his home after an illness.

Tom was born in Norwood, MA, on June 28, 1950, a son of the late John F and Catherine VanVaerenewyck. He served in the US Air Force as an SSGT during Vietnam. He earned an associate's degree in Fire Science. He worked as a Firefighter/ EMT for the Town of Sharon, MA until his retirement.

He leaves his wife, Jan VanVaerenewyck, his five children, Thor VanVaerenewyck and his wife Emily, Jaime Dillon and her husband, John, Jared VanVaerenewyck and his wife Tasha Richards, Shane VanVaerenewyck, and Cecily VanVaerenewyck; his nephew Michael MacDonald and 12 grandchildren, Jade, Logan, Ryan, Luke, Bryn, Liam, James, Owen, Maeve, Connor, Kylie, Rocky, Vincenzo, and Finn. His four siblings are Paul VanVaerenewyck, Marie Meyer, Susan VanVaerenewyck, and David VanVaerenewyck, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Tom was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and horses. He was very athletic, having played basketball and softball. Tom also enjoyed playing cards, especially contract Bridge.

There are no funeral services planned.
