J. Henry Goguen

GARDNER - J. Henry Goguen, 85, of 17B Knowlton Street, Gardner, died Sunday, July 17th in the Leo P. LaChance Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation following an illness. He was born in Gardner on January 9,1920, the son of Nazaire and Euphemie (Richard) Goguen and was a lifelong resident of Gardner. Henry was a graduate of Gardner High School with the Class of 1937. He was a foreman at Simplex Time Recorder Co., where he was employed for 47 years before his retirement in 1985. Henry was a U.S. Army veteran of World War 2 and was a survivor of the sinking of the USAT Dorchester, when four military chaplains were lost with the ship. He was a communicant of Holy Rosary Church, and was a member of Ovila Case Post #905 Veterans of Foreign Wars, AARP and the Gardner Golden Age Club. He enjoyed golfing and fishing. Henry leaves his wife of 58 years, Barbara E. (Quinlisk) Goguen; a son, Jeffrey P. Goguen of Gardner; a daughter, Pamela A. Fredette of Chelsea, Michigan; a brother, George J. Goguen of Gardner; six grandchildren and several nephews and nieces. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 21st fro the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street with a Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street at 10 A.M. Burial will take place in Greenlawn Cemetery, Baldwinville. A calling hour will be held in the funeral home on Thursday from 8:30-9:30 A.M.
