Imelda B. "Millie" LaPlante

WINCHENDON - Imelda B. "Millie" (Sorel) LaPlante, 93, of 2 First Avenue, died early Friday , October 28th in the Leo P. LaChance Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation, Gardner following an illness. She was born in Fall River on December 4,1911, the daughter of Joseph S. and Rose D. (Burckingham) Sorel and resided in Winchendon for 72 years. Millie was a cafeteria worker at the Winchendon Middle School before her retirement in 1980. She attended St Vincent de Paul Church in Baldwinville and was a member of the Winchendon Garden Club and was an honorary member of the Winchendon Golden Age Club. Millie's husband of 37 years, Wilfred J. LaPlante, died in 1969. She leaves a son, Leon W LaPlante of Winchendon; 2 daughters, Doris R. Klutz of Rustburg, VA and Joni M. LaPlante of Winchendon; a brother, Edmond A. Sorel of Gardner; five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren and several nephews and nieces. A memorial mass will be celebrated Saturday, November 5th at 11 A.M. in St. Vincent de Paul Church, 1 Forest Street, Baldwinville. Private burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery, Winchendon. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Winchendon EMT Ambulance Fund, P.O. Box 125, Winchendon, MA. 01475.
