Harriet N. Ayers

WINCHENDON – Harriet N. (Willcox) Ayers, 79, of 114 Ipswich Drive, died peacefully Friday evening, January 3, 2020 in Heywood Hospital, Gardner, with her family at her side.

She was born in Valhalla, New York on May 12, 1940, daughter of the late Wallace and Evangeline (Brown) Willcox and moved to Massachusetts at the age of six.  A resident of Winchendon for most of her life, Harriet graduated from Murdock High School in 1958.

Harriet worked for many years a s a bank teller at the former Winchendon Savings Bank then did personal care for individuals in this area.  At the age of 65, she learned to play the violin.  She was a member of Bethany Bible Chapel.  Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family.

She leaves her husband of 36 years, Klayton D. “Sam” Ayers; two daughters, Wendy Balko and her husband Alvin of Delray Beach, FL and Tammy Cote of Holyoke; two stepchildren, Samuel Ayers of Kirksville, Missouri and Tamara Kidder of Ayer, MA; a brother Wallace N. Willcox Jr. and his wife Nancy of Winchendon; five grandchildren, Kristi Gauthier, Douglas Balko, Jordan Harris, Justin Harris and Brooke Harris and several cousins.

At her request, there will be no funeral services or calling hours.
