GARDNER – Endel Luhtjarv, 84, of 24 Dublin Street, Gardner, died peacefully Monday afternoon, October 17th in Baldwinville Nursing Home, with his family at his side.
He was born in Haademeste, Estonia on February 13, 1927, the son of the late Jacob and Marie (Loorents) Luhtjarv and immigrated to this country in 1951. He had lived in Gardner for 36 years and became a United States citizen on September 6, 1985.
Endel assembled time clocks at Simplex Time Recorder Co., where he worked for 25 years, until his retirement in 1989. He enjoyed country music dancing and found his greatest enjoyment spending time with his family.
He leaves his wife of 34 years, Weynona (LaDeau) Luhtjarv; six children, Richard Luhtjarv and his wife Joyce of Fitchburg, Roland Luhtjarv and his wife Kimberly of Winchendon, Jack Luhtjarv of Winchendon, Carl Luhtjarv of Haverhill, Endla Roark and her husband Richard of Winchendon and Silvi Nash and her husband Harry of South Carolina; two stepchildren Christine Hunt and her husband James of Gardner and Randy Lucius and his wife Carmelle of Winchendon; his sister, Hilda Malling of Estonia; his former wife, Erna Luhtjarv of Fitchburg, 20 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 20, 2011 at 12 Noon in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon. The Rev. F. Calvin Miller will officiate. A calling hour from 11 AM to 12 Noon will precede the funeral.
Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Winchendon at a later date.
