Emily L. "Pat" Godfrey

GARDNER - Emily L. "Pat" Godfrey, 91, of Gardner, died peacefully Tuesday afternoon, September 10, 2019, in Cooley Dickinson Hospital, Northampton with her family at her side.  Her passing fulfilled her wish to be with her husband of 70 years, Campbell Godfrey, who died August 12, 2019.

She was born in Gardner on September 19, 1927, daughter of the late C. Henry and Louisa B. (Marble) Hartshorn and was a lifelong resident of Gardner.  Pat was a 1945 graduate of Gardner High School and a 1947 graduate of Colby Junior College.

Pat enjoyed working as an interior decorator at Country House Interiors of Acton for many years.

Pat was actively involved in the First Congregational Church in Gardner for many years.  In her later years, she was a devoted member of First Congregational Church of Westminster.  She was also a member of Heywood Hospital Aid Association, Gardner Museum and Gardner Chowder Club.  She was on the board of directors of the former Protestant Youth Center, the Board of Trustees of Baldwinville Nursing Home and a member of the Advisory Board of Cottage Hill Academy, YOU Inc.

She leaves three children, James Godfrey of Fitchburg, Pamela Clark and her husband Gerald of Leeds, MA and Cynthia Healy and her husband David of Holyoke; a granddaughter, Allison Vamos and her husband John of CT; two great grandsons, Jensen and Ashton; a sister, Polly Mellin of Henniker, NH; a brother Robert Lancey of Shrewsbury and two half sisters, Lynda Grybko of Pelham and Nancy Lamontagne of Arizona.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at 11 A.M. in First Congregational Church, 138 Main Street, Westminster.

Burial will be in Crystal Lake Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
