Edward W. Fitzmaurice

February 24, 1942 — June 10, 2021

WINCHENDON – Edward W. Fitzmaurice, 79, of 130 Morse Avenue, died from complications of cancer and aspiration pneumonia Thursday evening, June 10, 2021 in Athol Hospital, with his family at his side.

He was born in Winchendon on February 24, 1942, son of the late Richard and Gertrude (Gilson) Fitzmaurice and was a 1960 graduate of Murdock High School, where he was co-captain of the football team and a member of its baseball team.  He also played basketball at the Clark.

Ed worked as a shipper at the former Independent Lock and then worked at New England Woodenware for several years until his retirement.  His hobbies were reading, walking, word search, watching sports, spending time with his grandchildren and going to Disney World.

He leaves his wife of 57 years, Evi (Ots) Fitzmaurice; a son, Ryan Fitzmaurice and his wife Jessica and two grandchildren, Vivian and Ivy.  Three brothers, Patrick Fitzmaurice, Richard Fitzmaurice and Kermit Fitzmaurice, preceded him in death.

Funeral services and burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
