Edward J. Raymond

GARDNER – Edward J. Raymond, 85, of Gardner, died on March 17, 2023 at St. St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Brighton, MA.

He was born in Winchendon on December 4, 1937, the son of the late Joseph and Alice (Enright) Raymond and was a 1955 graduate of Murdock High School.  He had lived in Gardner for the last six years.  Ed had worked as a produce consultant for area grocery chains until his retirement.  He enjoyed reading.

He leaves his wife of 49 years, Mary C. (Kangas) Raymond; a son Michael and his wife Betsy of Shrewsbury, MA, granddaughter Hillary and her husband Nick Hajjar and great grandson Cameron Hajjar of Norwood, MA; a daughter, Deborah (Raymond) Tierney, her husband Thomas and granddaughters Sarah and Catherine on Mendon, MA, and a son Timothy Carpenter and his wife Shelley of Swanzey, NH, and grandchildren, Bradley of Swanzey, NH, Tiffany and her fiancé Christian Packard of West Chesterfield, NH.  Edward also leaves behind his brother in law, George Pineault of Winchendon, MA and sister in laws, Holly and Rosemary Raymond of Gardner, MA, along with several surviving nieces, nephews and cousins.  Ed also leaves behind his wife's brothers, John Kangas of Gardner and Paul Kangas of Winchendon.

Edward is predeceased by his sister, Joan Pineault in 2010, his brother James Raymond in 2014, his brother Kenneth Raymond in 2019, his nephew Kevin Raymond in 2019 and his previous wife, Patricia (Morris) Prevost in 2023.

Calling hours will be held Tuesday, March 28, 2023 from 5 to 7 P.M. in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon.  Private burial will be held in the spring.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions may be made to Beals Memorial Library, 50 Pleasant Street, Winchendon, MA 01475.
