WINCHENDON – Doris A. (Baker) Veilleux, 95, of 436 Maple Street, Winchendon, died peacefully Thursday afternoon, October 13th, in Wachusett Manor Nursing Home, Gardner, with her family at her side.
She was born in Wells River, VT on February 21, 1916, the daughter of the late Joseph and Elsie (Gay) Baker and graduated from high school in VT. She moved many years ago to Winchendon, where she lived for most of her life.
Doris worked for several years as a gauger for New Hampshire Ball Bearing Co in Peterborough, NH. She previously worked in the kitchen at The Winchendon School. Doris was very family oriented and mostly enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed baking and loved to make fudge for everyone at Christmas.
Her husband of 27 years, Leon H. Veilleux, died in 2000. She leaves five sons, Leo Veilleux of Fitchburg, Bill Veilleux of Myrtle Beach, SC, Pierre Veilleux and his wife Karen of Winchendon, Michael Veilleux and his wife Susan of Royalston and Noel Veilleux and his wife Maureen of Winchendon; a sister, Jeannette Greer of Portland, ME, many grandchildren, many great grandchildren great great grandchildren, nephews and nieces. A son, Thomas J. Veilleux, died on July 3rd. She was also predeceased by two brothers, Wilfred and Lawrence, and four sisters, Alice, Edna, Gladys and Helena.
A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, October 29th at 9:30 A.M. in St. Vincent de Paul Church, 1 Forest Street, Baldwinville.
