Dennis Cook

G. Dennis Cook, born on August 18, 1950, in Royalston, MA, passed away in his Gardner home on September 5, 2026 – surrounded by his loving family.

Dennis was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. A career truck driver known by his handle ‘Diesel Daddy’ – he put his emphasis on family front and center.

If family was first, country was second. As a proud Veteran of the United States Army, Dennis lived with an unwavering sense of pride in his service to the country he loved. Throughout his life, he stood in support of those serving all branches of the military – and the American flag flown prominently in his front yard will remain there in reverent testament to that support.

Dennis found great joy in working on cars and trucks, and possessed a mechanical knowledge that could only be described as ‘encyclopedic’. Able to identify model years and trims by even the smallest feature, his love of anything with a motor was something that connected him to both family and friends throughout life, and online.

He was also an avid reader, camper, looked forward to summers in Maine and, as a lover of country music, may it never be forgotten that he was “country, when country wasn’t cool”.

Dennis is survived by his beloved wife, Jean; his son, Jason Cook; daughter, Tracy Survilas, and her husband, Jason; son Michael Mackenzie, and his wife Amanda; and daughter, Tina Sevigny, and her husband, Richard. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Emma, Nicholas, Ashley, Julia, Brandon, Andrew, Justin and his wife Kassidy, along with their daughter, Ella – Dennis and Jean’s first great-granddaughter. He would want each of them to know how proud he was and how deeply he loved them for the unique person they were.

Dennis was preceded in death by his mother Eunice, father Harry, and brothers Dwight, Harry, and Jerry. His sisters Martha, Diane, and brother Vern are among the many family members who mourn his passing.
