Ashburnham

Ashburnham - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Cody Wenning, 29, Friday,
February 3, 2023, at UMass Medical Center in Worcester, MA. Cody passed away peacefully
surrounded by his loving family.
We are forever grateful for Cody who taught us patience, acceptance, to passionately detest
anything that doesn’t inspire kindness and understanding between human beings and to stand
up for those who can’t stand up for themselves. Although Cody was impacted with severe
autism, he taught us unconditional love of which there is no stronger example than Cody’s
mutual love with his parents, who were his guardian angels for 29 years, and now he is theirs.
Though Cody was limited in his communication, his message has and continues to inspire and
educate those who were lucky enough to know him and the autism/special needs community as
a whole. Cody’s legacy includes reform and advancement in local school special needs
programs, state legislature for autism awareness and funding including 800k fundraised for
autism research through “Cody’s Clan”.
Cody is survived by his parents, William H. Jr. and Marcy S. (Solomon) Wenning of
Ashburnham; one sister, Amy (Wenning) Peanamanda and her husband Daniel of Maynard,
MA; Drew Wenning and his partner, Stephanie Gerstetter of Tinley Park, IL; his maternal
grandmother, Deborah A. Solomon of Sarasota, FL; two nieces, Saige Peanamanda and Lily
Peanamanda; one nephew, Jaxson Wenning, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and all of the
amazing professionals who supported Cody over the years and became family.
Cody fought his whole life, and we vow to continue his fight to raise awareness and fight for the
individuals and families with loved ones with severe Autism/Special Needs. As such, in lieu of https://gofundme.com/f/f6ynyj-cody-fund flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the “The Cody Fund”
at Adapt Transition Services (which Cody was
attending) to support resources and programs for adults who are significantly impacted by
severe autism.
The family plans to hold a celebration of life for Cody which will be held April 16, 2023, at The
Colonial Inn in Gardner, MA from 2pm-4pm.
