Betty Ann Reid, an esteemed alumnus of M.I.T. and a cherished pillar of the Fitchburg community, passed quietly into eternity on January 23, 2024. Born in Haverhill, MA, on April 1, 1932, to Fred and Marguerite Sabin, Betty Ann was a sparkling gem whose life was a testament to the power of hard work, dedication, and unyielding spirit.

Betty Ann graduated from Haverhill High School and went on to pursue a master's degree at M.I.T., she had worked for MIT and then Spire Corporation. Her formidable intelligence, combined with an unwavering commitment to excellence, saw her rise to prominence as a Computer Programmer, a role she fulfilled until her retirement. I

A woman of many passions, Betty Ann was an avid reader, finding solace and inspiration within the pages of countless books. She found joy in the simple pleasure of sewing, creating beautiful pieces that were as much a testament to her skill as they were to her heart. Her culinary exploits were legendary, her kitchen a source of delightful aromas that wafted through her home, a constant reminder of her nurturing spirit. And she loved to travel, exploring the world with a curiosity and zest for life that was truly infectious.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Reid, and her parents, Fred and Marguerite Sabin.

As we remember Betty Ann, let us honor her life by cherishing the memories shared and the love given and received. In the words of Helen Keller, "What we have once enjoyed deeply we can never lose. All that we love deeply becomes a part of us." Betty Ann will forever be a part of us.
