TEMPLETON - Arlene J. (Swanson) White, 82, of Templeton died peacefully Monday morning, June 13, 2022 in Gardner Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, with her family at her side.
She was born in Gardner on October 27, 1939, daughter of the late Philip and Lydia (Mattson) Swanson and grew up in Templeton. Arlene was a 1957 graduate of Templeton High School and a 1962 graduate of Faith School of Theology in Old Orchard Beach, Maine. Arlene and her family lived in Saco, Maine before returning to this area in 1983.
Arlene had worked as a secretary at Trinity Christian Academy in Fitchburg. In earlier years, she provided day care for children. She was a member of Cornerstone Church of the Assemblies of God and enjoyed working in the yard tending to her flowers. Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family.
She leaves her husband of 58 years, Frederick E. White; three children, Eric White of Templeton, Shawn White of Templeton and Wanda Goodwin of Otter River; two brothers Phillip Swanson of Townsend and James Swanson of Skowhegan, ME; a sister, Elizabeth “Betty” Knowlton and husband Ken of Otter River, six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Arlene was preceded in death by a son, Hermann D. White; three brothers, George Swanson, Eddie Swanson and Richard Swanson and two sisters, Ingrid V. Myllykangas and Christine A. Lorion.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 17, 2022 at 11 A.M. in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon. A calling hour in the funeral home will precede the service Friday from 10 to 11 A.M.
Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Templeton at a later date.
