WINCHENDON – Anna R. (LaPlante) Roy, 101, formerly of 108 Summer Street, died peacefully Wednesday evening, August 12, 2020 in Fitchburg HealthCare, with her son at her side.
She was born in Winchendon on September 10, 1918, daughter of the late Joseph and Geraldine (St. Lawrence) LaPlante and was a lifelong resident of Winchendon.
Anna had worked as a clerk at the former Christos Candy Store and had previously worked for White Brothers, C.F. Bard and Robert Taylor’s Candy and Ice Cream Shop in Rindge, NH.
She was a long-time member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church.
She enjoyed reading, walking, and baking cakes. Weekly, she attended flea markets with her sister-in-law. She was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox.
Her greatest pleasure was spending time with her family.
Her husband, William J. Roy, died in 1991. She leaves a son Kenneth A. Roy of Holden; three grandchildren, Colleen Bottalico and her husband Peter of Barkhamsted, CT, Nicholas Roy and his wife Sandra of West Boylston and David Roy of West Palm Beach, FL; four grandchildren, Dante, Marco, Roman and Rhozwyn and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by four brothers, Adelard LaPlante, Euclid LaPlante, Roland LaPlante and Gerald Gauthier.
Funeral services will be held Friday, August 21, 2020 at 11 A.M. in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon. A calling hour will precede the service on Friday from 10 to 11 A.M.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Winchendon.
