Agnes R. (Jodrey) Hanshaw

WINCHENDON - Agnes R. (Jodrey) Hanshaw, 90, of 118 Prospect Street, Gardner and a former long-time resident of Winchendon, died peacefully Friday morning, April 23rd in UMASS Memorial Healthcare, University Campus, Worcester. She was born in Townsend on November 3,1919, the daughter of the late Charles A. and Jenny E. (Brown) Jodrey and lived in Winchendon for over 60 years until moving to Gardner three years ago. Agnes was a short order cook for 29 years at the former Travelers Restaurant in Winchendon until her retirement. She was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and also enjoyed bowling, fishing and country music. Her greatest enjoyment came from spending time with her family and dogs. She was a graduate of Townsend High School. Her husband, Lawrence E. Hanshaw, died in 1993. She leaves three daughters, Kathleen L. Morin of Winchendon, Patricia A. Robert and her husband Bruce of Winchendon and Dorothy A. LaRoche and her husband Jules of Gardner, with whom she lived; one sister, Mildred Upham of Townsend; six step daughters, Cynthia M. Merrill of Winchester, NH, Carole A. Burns of Orange, Leanne C. Cummings of Orange, Laurie M. Johnson of Winchendon, Mary A. Desmond of Winchendon and Laura J. Draeger of Jaffrey, NH, as well as many grandchildren, many great grandchildren, one great great granddaughter and many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by a son, Francis M. Lafrennie Jr, who died in 1994; three brothers, Charles Jodrey, Clarence Jodrey and Harvey Jodrey; two sisters, Elsie Weatherbee and Ada Jodrey, and a stepson, Lawrence J. Hanshaw Sr. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, April 27th at 11 A.M. in Riverside Cemetery, Glenallen Street, Winchendon. The Rev. Scott Grimshaw will officiate.
