ASHBURNHAM – Gleanore M. “Red” Janssens, 89, of Ashburnham, died Friday afternoon, February 15, 2019 in Heywood Hospital, Gardner.
She was born in Ashburnham on February 23, 1929, daughter of the late Harry and Lila Rose (Morriseau) LaFortune and was a lifelong resident of Ashburnham.
Gleanore worked for several years as an assembler at Ethan Allen Woodworking in South Ashburnham before her retirement. While her children were growing up, she served as a Girl Scout leader and Cub Scout den mother. Her hobbies were crafts and reading. Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family.
Her husband of 58 years, Leo J. Janssens, died in 2010. She leaves two children, Carla L. Jalbert and her husband Fernand of Gardner and Leo J. Janssens II and his wife Maribeth of Ashburnham; five grandchildren, Kristina Sullivan, Gary Jalbert, Alisha Jalbert, Shawn Janssens and Jacob Janssens; six great grandchildren, Nicholas Sullivan, Dillon Jalbert, Corey Jalbert, Keegan Jalbert, Samantha Masone and Kingston Aker; one great great granddaughter, Angelina and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her siblings, Norma Leger, Jetta Gould, Roland LaFortune and Ezekial LaFortune.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 21, 2019 at 10 A.M. in Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon.
