Gerard J. Caissie

March 5, 1921 ~ December 25, 2018 (age 97)

TEMPLETON – Gerard J. “Buster” Caissie, 97, of Baldwinville, died peacefully Tuesday morning, December 25, 2018 in Quabbin Valley Healthcare, Athol.

 

He was born in Shediac, New Brunswick, Canada on March 5, 1921, son of the late Marcel and Menda (Boucher) Caissie and came to the United States at an early age.  In 1938, he moved to Baldwinville from Gardner.

 

Buster worked as a millwright for Gem Industries for 39 years until his retirement.  In earlier years, he worked as a truck driver and at Baldwinville Paper Mill.  He was a member of Knights of Columbus Otter River Council since 1951.

 

His wife, Alma L. (Columbus) Caissie, died in 1996.  He leaves his children, Amanda Anderson of Haverhill, Ann Caissie of East Templeton, Matthew Caissie and his wife Tammy of Phillipston, Timothy Caissie of Baldwinville and Brenda Caissie of Austin, TX; two grandchildren, Marc Anderson and Ashley Pool; a sister, Dorothy Kirby of Baldwinville; a brother, Donald Casey and his wife Edna of Barre, as well as nieces and nephews.  A daughter, Joyce Caissie, died at the age of 4.  He was predeceased by two brothers, Joseph Caisse and Albert “Peto” Caisse, and seven sisters, Doris Fournier, Loretta Koldys, Helen Valliere, Frances Columbus, Rita Kangas, Theresa Bockus and Mary “Aline” Waters.

 

Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family.  There are no calling hours.

 

Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
