WINCHENDON – Cecelia T. (Gaucher) Garfield, 90, of 37 Spruce Street, died peacefully at her home Thursday evening, January 31, 2019, with her family at her side.
She was born in Hudson, MA, daughter of the late Wallace and Mildred (Benoit) Gaucher and was a graduate of Marlboro High School. Cecelia had lived in Winchendon for 11 years after previously living in Gardner for 20 years. She had lived in Marlboro for many years until moving to this area.
Cecelia loved to read and enjoyed crocheting, cooking, baking and shopping. Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Her husband of 56 years, Elmond F. Garfield Jr., died in 2006. She leaves her children, David S. Garfield and his wife Carol of Winchendon, Richard E. Garfield and his wife Nancy of Marlboro, Donald W. Garfield and his wife Joyce of Sturbridge, Helene M. Martioski and her husband Joseph Deneutte of Winchendon and Lorraine C. Garfield; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded by her brothers and sisters, Wallace “Junior” Gaucher, Richard Gaucher, Claremont “Sonny” Gaucher, Frances Madden and Nancy Savoie.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at 10 A.M. in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street. Burial will follow in Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery.
Calling hours in the funeral home are Monday, February 4, 2019 from 5 to 7 P.M.
