WINCHENDON - Bernard R. "Bernie" Frenette, 64, of 40 Mill Glen Road, died peacefully at his residence Friday evening, February 16, 2018, with his family and close friends at his side.
He was born in Greenville, NH on July 25, 1953, son of the late Gerard and Blanche (St. Peter) Frenette and grew up in Gardner. Bernie went on to graduate from Worcester State College. He had lived in Winchendon for 30 years.
Bernie served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He also volunteered in the Peace Corps for three years. Bernie was a highly regarded staff member of Genesis Club in Worcester for many years.
Bernie was a well known musician, who actively supported the local music scene and was well loved throughout the community. He hosted many open mics at Williams Restaurant and the former Character's Lounge. Bernie also enjoyed kayaking, cross country skiing, cycling and hiking.
He leaves his soulmate of 11 years, Ellen Tambling of Winchendon and her three sons, Gabriel, Matthew and Alex Tambling; his siblings, Jacqueline St. Jean, Robert Frenette, Elaine Aho, Linda Mercier, Constance White, Damien Austin, Sandy Fredette and Edward Frenette; many nieces and nephews and his former wife, JoAnne (LeBlanc) Miller. A sister, Lucille Wilbur, predeceased him.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, March 17, 2018 from 11 AM to 4 PM in Polish American Citizens Club, 171 Kendall Pond W, Gardner.
